Welcome to Mrs. Halbeck's Home Page!

News from 5H

The fifth and sixth graders have been working diligently on learning the timetable facts.  They race against themselves to improve their score.  There is a 2-minute time limit on the test.  So far, they are improving.

In Math the fifth graders are working on division with decimals and 2 and 3 digit divisors.  Quizzes are once a week, usually on Thursday.

The sixth graders are working on the stock market once a week.  They had $10,000.00 in imaginary money to spend on stocks.  They work in groups of 5, 6, or 7.  Each week they calculate how much their stocks are worth and see if they have a profit or loss.  They have finished a unit on division and will be working on data and statistics.  Quizzes are once a week and the day varies.  They also do the 2-minute timetable exercise.

We are completing unit 2 in reading and will begin unit 3 the week on November 11th.  Quizzes are usually on Friday.  Spelling quizzes are on Wednesday.
